Yarra Valley based vignerons, the Sexton family live in the middle of their 80 acre vineyard established on the high north face of the Warramate Ranges in the dress circle of the Yarra Valley, one hour east of Melbourne.

At Giant Steps, they explore site, micro climatic and clonal differences between several specialised vineyards in the Yarra Valley including their own multiclonal vineyard and the highly regarded Tarraford vineyard. Specialising in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot, they also release their son’s namesake, Harry’s Monster, in exceptional years. A blend of Petit Verdot, Merlot, cabernet Franc and cabernet Sauvignon drawn from the highest part of their home vineyard, Harry’s Monster is a multiple trophy winner.

Focused intently upon reflecting the individual and unique characteristics of each single vineyard, Giant Steps adopts a minimalist approach to winemaking including, whenever possible, vinification using indigenous yeasts and gravity flow transfers.

When in the Yarra Valley you must stop by the winery/cellar door situated in the main street of Healesville, which offers wood fired pizzas, in-house roasted coffee, cheese, beer on tap, and of course wine.
